Grooming or hygiene habits are one of those things everyone is expected to know but no one ever talks about in open. Your dad might have given you a lesson or two in shaving and you must have picked up the habit of using cologne from your peers, but when it comes to grooming the rules are a little bit different. Maybe it’s not very cool for guys to sit around and discuss their personal grooming regimen, but there are some serious habits that are missing from most men’s grooming routine. Here’s what you should be doing on a regular basis.
1) Brush Your Tongue
You may have a way with words, but if you mouth smells like a skunk, then you are nothing but a turn off. Besides brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing every day, you should also give your tongue a good scrub. Buildup on your tongue is actually the primary cause of bad breath, which is why you must invest in a tongue scraper and clean your tongue every alternate day.
2) Change Your Sheets Once A Week
That acne on your skin and back, for most cases, is a resultant of sleeping on unclean bed sheets. This is why changing your bed sheet once every a week will reduce your skin’s contact to grime and dirt, which resides on your sheet. It becomes absolute if you share your bed as your partner’s hair and make-up products get left behind on your sheets and are subsequently transferred to your face.
3) Use Cologne Down South
This is where things can get real dirty. Bad hygiene downstairs is an unforgivable offence, so you ought to be clean, dry and well-groomed there. Your crotch, like armpits, should never smell foul, so consider spraying cologne on front and back of your boxers before you head out. Though there is no special deodorant or cologne for your crotch, so wear your regular deodorant, but sparingly.
4) Cold Water Therapy
As much as showering is a basic thing, chances are, however, you’re doing it wrong. For starters, always shower with cold water or lukewarm water, and avoid extreme hot water because there are numerous benefits in doing so, chiefly in the hair and skin department. Read all the benefits here. Alternatively, right before you get out of shower, turn it on full blast cold. This will also prevent you getting stinky all over again once you step out of your house.
5) Pluck Your Bushy Brows
We have spoken about it before many a time and therefore you know how forbidden a unibrow is. If you’re in the habit of shaving your bushy brows, stop doing it this instant. Plucking is more precise, lasts longer and doesn’t run the risk of getting a cut. When it comes to making a good impression, eyebrows play a vital role in enhancing your appearance. So, invest in a good pair of tweezers and get plucking.
